The Top 5 Rarest Kratom Strains

Kratom is a unique herb that many people have never heard about. There are so many different colors and strains, each with a one-of-a-kind alkaloid profile influenced by a variety of factors. Usually, kratom is named for the country or region they originated in and the color of the vein, but even within those parameters you probably come across strains you’ve never heard of before.

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices you have when it comes to kratom strains. At Oasis Kratom, we know a thing or two about the Southeast Asian herb, so we’ve created a list of the top five rarest kratom strains. Find out all about these strains including where they come from, how they’re harvested, and how those things influence their alkaloids to create something completely distinctive and, in many cases, extraordinary.

The Five Rarest Kratom Strains

At Oasis Kratom, we find these varieties to be unique and exceptional.

#1 Red Dragon Kratom

Red Dragon Kratom is special. It is most closely related to Thai kratom but is sourced from only one particular plantation. So, while most strains of kratom you find on the market come from a particular country or region, Red Dragon comes from essentially one farm in Thailand. Limited quantities of it are produced painstakingly by the farmers there, which makes it very rare and, in many cases, very expensive.

Red Dragon has a very high alkaloid content, which is another reason why it’s so in demand. You can find it in white, green, and red varieties, but of those, red is definitely the most difficult to come by. So, if you can purchase some for your kratom collection, you may want to jump on it!

#2 Yellow Horn Kratom

Yellow Horn kratom is another unique kratom variety that is highly sought after. This kratom gets its name from the spikes that grow on the leaves of this particular type of kratom tree. It’s not understood why the leaves have these tiny horns around their perimeter but because it’s rarer to find horned kratom leaves than non-horned leaves, it creates demand for this special product – and there’s a lot less of it to go around, too.

It has an alkaloid profile most like that of white-veined kratom varieties, so if you are a fan of white-vein, then you will likely be a fan of Yellow Horn kratom, too.

#3 Green Hulu Kapuas Kratom

Green Hulu Kapuas kratom is rare because of where it comes from. To harvest leaves from this strain of kratom, farmers have to harvest them from a very limited area. The Kapuas River in Borneo feeds this strain of kratom. This river is considered sacred by those who live there, so no one is allowed to farm on that land since it’s protected. This limits the area where the kratom trees that produce Green Hulu Kapuas can grow and make it quite rare.

The green-veined variety of this strain is also the rarest of the rare because of the timing of the harvest. That’s why you may find that green-veined Hulu Kapuas is more expensive and a lot harder to come by than white or red.

#4 White Indo Kratom

While Indo kratom itself may not be difficult to find, White Indo Kratom is the rarest of the strain to locate. It comes from the damp, warm areas of Sumatra Island in Indonesia and is more difficult to find than harvest at the right time to create the white version of the strain.

This strain is perhaps easier to find than some of the others on this list, but it’s still a rare kratom that those who like Sumatra kratom may want to add to their kratom collection. If you see White Indo for sale, you may want to buy it so that it doesn’t slip through your fingers!

#5 Cambodian Kratom

Cambodian kratom isn’t a kratom strain that is rare because of how it grows necessarily, but because of how it is produced. It is made by mixing Green Horn Kratom and Red Horn Kratom. Since Horn Kratom in general is more difficult to come by, you can see how this mix can be rare to find.

The alkaloid content of Cambodian Kratom most closely resembles that of Maeng Da Kratom, so if you’re a fan of that strain, then you may want to seek out Cambodian Kratom to add to your growing collection.

The Four Kratom Colors

It’s important to understand the difference between the colors of kratom you can find. Four main colors can be found in even the scarcest of strains that can help you to understand something about the kratom right from the start.

White Vein Kratom

White kratom has had the leaves plucked early in the lifecycle from the tree. This means that the alkaloid balance between the two major alkaloids, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine is a little different than other strains of kratom.

Green Vein Kratom

Kratom has green veins in the leaves when harvested is taken from the tree in the middle of the leaf’s lifecycle. This is why many of the alkaloid profile tends to be very balanced in green-veined varieties, a nice mixture of what is found in white-veined and what is found in red-veined kratom.

Red Vein Kratom

Red kratom has had the leaves harvested at their most mature, giving the alkaloids the most time to mature. Red-veined kratom is very popular but its robust alkaloid profile is not recommended for those who may be new to kratom.

Yellow Vein Kratom

No doubt you’ve seen yellow-veined kratom available. It is one of the rarest colors but the truth is that it’s not technically a recognized kratom vein. It’s simply an offshoot of white kratom that undergoes a special drying process that turns the veins yellow. Its alkaloid profile most closely resembles that of green-veined kratom.

Rare Kratom

Kratom strains vary quite significantly. Some are more expensive because they’re harder to find – and they’re hard to find because they present challenges in harvesting and growing. Is rare kratom better? That’s hard to say. It’s unique, which is why many people seek these rare strains out, but all strains of kratoms have their pros and their cons.

At Oasis Kratom, we understand you have a lot of choices when it comes to kratom vendors. We want to make sure that you’re satisfied no matter what strain of kratom you order. That’s why we lab-test all our kratom for purity, quality, and safety before it’s shipped to your door, no matter what type of kratom it is.
